  • Prepare and finalize your new home’s renovations by contacting flooring companies, painters, roofers, plumbers, or any other contractors you may need.

  • Make an inventory of all the items you’re moving, take pictures (especially for electronic setups, furniture assembly, etc.)

  • Arrange for friends, family, or a local moving company to help you load your storage unit.

3-4 Weeks Before Your Move

  • Declutter your home and begin packing any items you won’t need until after your move: attic, basement, garage, shed, etc.

  • Label all your moving boxes with which room they will go to in your new home.

  • Schedule a time for the elevator and/or parking space with your building (if needed)

  • Contact your home insurance, auto insurance agent to begin transferring policies and completing change of address forms.

  • Prepare a list of contacts including friends and relatives, banks and financial institutions, mailed subscription services, and home service companies that should be notified of your new address.
